(L-R) Midland Men's Shed stalwarts Kevin Buckland, Dave Savage and Jim Riddle with Midland MLA Michelle Roberts.

Celebrating seven years

There was a lot to celebrate at the seventh birthday party of the Midland Men’s Shed at the Bellevue Baptist Church Hall on Tuesday including a $10,000 donation by the new state government and a workshop, which is soon to open.

In December last year the Midland Men’s Shed signed an agreement with the City of Swan to use the Midvale clubrooms in Swan Avenue as its base.

The men have been allocated a part of the building, which they are now fitting out as a workshop and Midland MLA Michelle Roberts said the $10,000 would go towards equipment and machinery.

She said the good news was that the money was already in the bank.

“I just want to congratulate those who campaigned long and hard for so long because you’ve come up with some good results for the men’s shed, which is going from strength to strength.”

Midland Men’s Shed secretary Kevin Buckland said the site hasn’t opened for operation yet but it is expected to open late next month.

Currently the men’s shed has 85 members and more are always welcome.
