Georgia impresses judges

GEORGIA Carroll has won the Taylorweir apprentice of the year 2107 award.

Ms Carroll who works at Lisa’s Style hairdressing salon in Midland beat 110 other students to the award.

The third-year apprentice said the award took into account things such as an apprentice’s skills, organisation and contact with clients.

The 20-year-old said she loved creating varying styles as well as the social aspect of hairdressing where she got to talk with clients.

“I like making people feel good about themselves and different,’’ she said.

Her strength is colouring but particularly with cutting she finds it a bit of a challenge to be doing things at the same time as learning.

Her boss and Lisa’s Style owner Lisa Panaia said Ms Carroll was a great apprentice but was very tough on herself.

Ms Panaia said it was just the two of them at the salon but they made a good team.

She said when Ms Carroll was named the winner out of 10 finalists she was glad but not really surprised.

Ms Carroll expects to complete her apprenticeship in November.
