Hills an inspiration for The City Views

HILLS based band The City Views like to keep their songs local with their latest offering Lesmurdie fresh out on the airwaves from their forthcoming 6-track EP Find Me Rewinding.

The band, which describes its genre as “noisy Indie pop” comprises of Dave Wallace (guitars and vocals), Mark “Sid” Eaton (drums and vocals), and Tom “E Wobbles” Goodrick on bass guitar.

A Mundaring local,  Wallace  said he hoped the EP, due out later this year, would be released on 10inch vinyl.

“The bones of this tune were written by our good friend and former band member of The Sensitive Drunks, Seb Guazzelli, sometime in the 1990’s and brought to the band in 2015,” he said.

“I added bits and pieces, other parts were taken away, chords were written and Lesmurdie was born.

“Seb grew up in Lesmurdie and the song reflects on his years growing up in the hills and all that it had to offer him during his youth.”

Wallace  said the band’s influences included Sebadoh, Smudge, You am I, Big Heavy Stuff, Swervedriver, The Cure, Godstar, The Givegoods, Lemonheads, Breeders, Pixies, Neil Young, Nick Drake, and Red House Painters.

The City Views recently celebrated 20 years of the album Less Is More for the Legendary 1990’s Melbourne band Even.

“We opened for Even at The Amplifier with special guests Header, also a successful 90s Perth band, who reformed for a handful of shows,” Wallace  said.

“It was a great night and we were more than happy to be a part of celebrations.”

The City Views are playing an April Bash Reunion Show this Saturday, April 29 at the Hyde Park Hotel.

The gig will also feature The Little Lord Street Band, The Dark Woods, and Dr Preposterous. Tickets are available on the door.

The City Views’ past gigs include opening for legendary Scottish rock band Big Country last year at The Rosemount.

The threesome also opened for legends of Aussie Indie rock Smudge in 2015 at The Astor Lounge.

The band also boasts radio air time around the world from Spain to New York.
