Katinka takes gold in Romania

ELLENBROOK Taekwondo phenom Katinka Penketh has returned from a whirlwind tour of Europe, with several high-level victories to her name.

Despite a gruelling travel schedule, the 13-year-old made it through to the quarter finals of the Serbian Sr Open before being knocked out of the competition.

Just a week later, she  took home a gold at the  Dracula Open in Bucharest, Romania, defeating competitors from Greece, Bulgaria and Hungary, as well as being named Cadet Female Competitor of the Tournament.

Next on the agenda for Katinka is the 2019 Oceania President’s Cup and the 2019 Australian Open Sparring Championships, both held in Brisbane in June.

She hopes she will be able to attend training camps and international competitions prior to the Brisbane events, but that is dependent on fundraising efforts.

She has a fundraising page on Facebook that can be found by searching Katinka Penketh.
