BULLSBROOK trainer Jim Taylor says jockey Jason Brown will try and have More Aces in the box seat in the Get the Tabtouch Handicap (1000m) at Belmont on Saturday, July 29.
In the Zizou and London Road gelding’s previous start in 1200m handicap race on July 15 apprentice jockey Fred Kersley and More Aces went to the front very quickly and really put the pace on.
Taylor said Kersley probably went a bit hard early on and More Aces was probably not quick enough to lead the whole way.
More Aces was about three to four lengths out in front at the 650m but after entering the home straight the rest of the field gathered him in.
Jockey Jason Brown and A Knight of Pro overtook a tiring More Aces to take the win.
Brown was on board More Aces when the gelding finished last in a field of 10 in a 1000m race on June 24.
Before that More Aces and Brown finished first in a 1000m trial on June 12.
On Saturday, More Aces will start from barrier one and carry 56kg.
If Brown gets right behind the leaders and one out from the rail he will be well placed to plot their final dash to the finish line.
Trainers Chris Gangemi of Henley Brook and Sean Casey of Bullsbrook have Lockroy and Belter respectively entered in the same race.
Lockroy has drawn barrier four and will carry 55kg while Belter who has drawn barrier two will carry 54kg.
