Search for live grenade

WA Police want to make contact with an unidentified man who they believe is in possession of a live, and most likely unstable old hand grenade that he found in Chidlow recently.
A WA Police spokesman said the man was with other people in the Chidlow area on Saturday, November 12.

Two old grenades were located and two of the men that were present each took one home.

One of the grenades was brought to the attention of WA Police on Friday, November 25.

” he grenade has been secured, and found to be live,” he said.

“Australian Defence Force personnel have safely removed the grenade from the residence and it will be destroyed at a later date.

“The identity of the man who took the second grenade home is not known and it is more than likely that the grenade in his possession is live and unstable.

“That man is asked not to touch or move the grenade, and is asked to call Police immediately on 131 444 so that arrangements can be made for the Australian Defence Force to safely remove it.”
