INDIVIDUALS, couples, families and group teams took part in the third annual Vine Runner half marathon on Saturday, December 9.
Angus Hansen won the men’s 2.5km section of the Vine Runner, which is held at Sandalford Wines’ Swan Valley estate and Lilly Hansen the women’s 2.5km event.
The 5km men’s event was won by Trent Siviour with Maylis Ellis claiming victory in the women’s section.
The 10km over 35 men’s event was won by James Goodall with Marie Pennock finishing first in the women’s section.
Rick Guerini won the U34 men’s 10km event and Michelle Carranza was first for the women in that age category.
The 21.1km for men over 35 years was won by Glen Gibson with Claire Franklin winning the women’s section.
The U34 men’s 21.1km section was won by Alexander Haley with Jacinta Marriott finishing first in the women’s event.
Each entrant received a uniquely crafted Vine Runner 2018 medal when they crossed the finish line.
Sandalford Wines chief executive officer Grant Brinklow said the Vine Runner festival was unlike any other run in WA or in Australia.
Mr Brinklow said the Vine Runner brought together people of all ages and from all walks of life who enjoyed the opportunity to discover a vineyard in a manner they would not otherwise have opportunity to do.
The event supports WA Police Legacy.
In 2016 the event attracted 281 competitors and 607 in 2017.
Sixty-five per cent of the starters in 2017 were women.
