Drug, cash seizure after Forrestfield stop car stop

FOLLOWING a Forrestfield traffic stop detectives from the serious and organised crime division, Mandurah detectives, and the gang crime squad have charged six men and one woman after more than $2.2 million cash, drugs, and firearms were seized as the result of an investigation in relation to a drug and money laundering syndicate.

During the evening of Tuesday, January 30 officers stopped a vehicle at a carpark in Forrestfield and located more than $500,000 in cash.

It is believed the cash, that was contained in a duffle bag, was partially secreted in bushland in Lakelands and collected by a 35-year-old man, who then drove to Forrestfield.

The 35-year-old man was taken into custody and was charged with one count of ‘received, possessed, concealed, disposed of or dealt with any money or other property that is the proceeds of an offence’.

He is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on April 9.

As a result of further inquiries, detectives executed a further 10 search warrants in the southern metropolitan area and located a kilo of methylamphetamine, two kilos of MDMA, smaller quantities of cocaine and cannabis, $2.2 million cash, two hand guns and a silencer.

A 46-year-old man, 33-year-old man, 30-year-old man, 26-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman have all been charged with a number of serious drug and stealing offences.

The investigation into the involvement of other parties remains ongoing – police anticipate further charges will be laid in the near future.

Wattle Grove assault: second man charged

Midland Detectives have charged a second person in relation to a serious assault that occurred at a cultural festival in Wattle Grove on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

About 8.30pm, two groups of people attending the Diwali Mela festival at the Abruzzo Molise Sporting Club became involved in an altercation.

The incident occurred between the clubhouse and the playground. During the altercation, a 22-year-old man was struck to the head with a metal object, believed to be a pole.

The man received a skull fracture and was taken by St John WA to Royal Perth Hospital. A 38-year-old man from Piara Waters has been charged with one count of ‘To cause fear that someone will be injured/disabled’.

On March 6, a 38-year-old man – also from Piara Waters – was charged with ‘Unlawful act or omission with intent to harm (endangering life, health or safety of any person)’.

As inquiries continue, detectives have released CCTV vision of a third man who may be able to assist with the investigation. Anyone with information in relation to the identity of the man pictured is urged to contact

Ellenbrook man faces illegal filming charges

DETECTIVES from child exploitation operations have charged a 28-year-old Ellenbrook man following the discovery of surveillance device located in the female toilets of a university campus in Fremantle.

It will be alleged that between August 2023 and February 2024, the accused used a stolen key to access the service area located behind the disabled toilet and – using a mobile phone – recorded women using the facilities.

The accused in this matter was previously employed by an external contractor delivering hygiene services to the university.

The 28-year-old Ellenbrook man has been charged with three counts of unlawfully install an optical surveillance device, three counts of trespass and stealing as a servant.

He is due to appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on March 18.
