TANIA Lawrence gave her first speech to parliament last week bringing the issues that the people of Hasluck face to the national table.
The newly elected Labor member said WA premier Mark McGowan had encouraged her to run for the seat and thanked Ken Wyatt for all he had done in Hasluck before her.
She went on to criticise the former government and spoke about the damage they had done to the people of her electorate.
“What about the seniors in Aveley borrowing money they cannot return, asking me why there is no action on the cost of living,” she said.
“Or the young man in Swan View asking me why he had to quit his job to care for his mother as she lay with cancer in a nursing home.
“The previous government did not care.”
Ms Lawrence went on to joke that she had the most beautiful electorate in WA and said she looked forward to seeing the Prime Minister there a lot over the next two years.
