Koongamia take on Queens Park

KOONGAMIA’S division 2 team defeated Queens Park by 111 to 34 in Round 4 of the Metro Football League.

While the Queens Park Bulldogs were keen and full of enthusiasm, it was not enough to slow down the Koongamia Crows.

An early onslaught of goals in the first quarter set the tone for the rest of the game and added pressure on the bulldogs causing them to panic when in possession of the ball making them miss targets and create turnovers.

Keven Knapp had his first game back at the club for season 2021 and played outstanding.

Koongamia’s centremen Luke Quartermaine, Tyson Pickett, Kookie Garlett and young Kynan Farmer kept the ball flowing into the forward.

Final score for the fast-paced division 1 game was Queens Park 119 to Koongamia 79 with former AFL Brownlow medallist Ben Cousins, who played for Queens Park drawing a crowd.

Koongamia Women’s team final score was Queens Park with 38 to 28.

During the game 16-year-old Debbie Williams took a hard hit in the backline and broke her ankle.

Debbie has had an operation and is on the road to recovery but unfortunately will be out for the rest of the season.
