ONE Lesmurdie resident is counting his lucky stars after winning a substantial prize on a Scratch’n’Win ticket he purchased on a whim.
The man, who works as a mechanic in the area, won $100,000 on his $20 Diamond Dazzler Scratch’n’Win ticket bought at Lesmurdie Guardian Pharmacy and News last week.
“I just headed into the shops because I had forgotten to buy some milk for my breakfast, and I knew I had a lotto ticket to cash in, so, I bought the milk and a few scratchies,” the man said.
“I reckon I got halfway through my breakfast before I realised that one of my tickets was a $100,000 winner.”
The man said he planned to use his prize money to pay off his mortgage and travel around Western Australia.
Lesmurdie Guardian Pharmacy and News post office manager Melanie said it was a very exciting moment for the whole team when they sold a winning ticket.
“I was the one that sold him the ticket in the morning and was still there when he came back to check he’d won,” she said.
“It’s very exciting, especially when you print out the slip that says the customer has won a prize as much as $100,000.
“We get a few wins on big lotto tickets but scratchies are a bit rarer for a big prize so we were all thrilled.
“Some of us were more excited than he was!”
She said the Diamond Dazzler Scratch’n’Win ticket was now a very popular sale at their newsagency.
