Local rivals go head to head in NAIDOC round

HIGH Wycombe Football Club are celebrating NAIDOC festivities with a special round of football this weekend.

The NAIDOC round will see the Bulldogs take on the Kalamunda Cougars at Scott Reserve this Saturday with star attraction, ex Eagles player Lewis Jetta primed to take centre stage.

For the cross-town rival derby, which celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the Bulldogs’ integrated, reserves and league teams will be wearing specially-designed NAIDOC guernseys created by Bela Patrice Jalawarla.

The special event will also feature a traditional smoking ceremony, greeting and Welcome to Country.

The Bulldogs scored a massive coup earlier this year when former Sydney Swans and West Coast Eagles player Lewis Jetta decided to sign with the club to play alongside his brothers for the season.

The game kicks off at 2.20pm with a bar and kids entertainment.
