A SELF-taught painter with a larger-than-life collection, it comes as no surprise that Sadev Bellana is presenting his own art exhibition at 7 years old.
Nearly 50 acrylic and oil paintings of all shapes and sizes by the year two student will be on display at St Brigid’s College in Lesmurdie from June 25 to 30.
The collection of works by Sadev reflect his progression in painting from the age of four up until now and include local landscapes, flowers, family portraits and a few abstract pieces.
“Parents normally encourage their kids to read books, but my idea was different, I gave Sadev and my daughter paint,” Sadev’s father Indika Bellana said.
“I couldn’t believe how well he has done with his painting, so we decided we should do an art exhibition.”
As well as finding painting to be a relaxing outlet, Sadev said he hopes to pursue it more seriously in the future.
“I would like to be an illustrator, and draw pictures to go with my own stories,” he said.
“I enjoy painting because you can paint anything, and I feel excited about putting my exhibition on at school.”
