BOYS and girls looking to learn more about soccer without the stress of competitions, can now take part in the national Grasshopper Soccer program that has just kicked off in two City of Swan locations.
The program offers soccer skills, fun and support for boys and girls aged two to 12.
“The aim is to introduce the kids to soccer, getting them into the skills, learning and social development and help them to form friendships,” organiser Ruaidhri McGill said.
“The soccer games are child-based and fun.”
Grasshopper Soccer has gained popularity nation-wide as a program that provides a building block upon which children can improve their game and their character.
The City of Swan programs run throughout school term times and kick off again on February 5 and 6 at both Swan View Primary School and Library Avenue, Ellenbrook.
“The importance of it being a non-competitive program is that children are able to develop their skills without the pressure of winning or losing,” Mr McGill said.
“The emphasis will be on fun where children enjoy learning and are excited to turn up to soccer each week.”
Children will be supported by coaches and parents who would be invited to be involved by participating in the training and encouraging the kids to ‘have a go’.
