MIDLAND families, carers and providers are being encouraged to attend a free community event this month designed to make the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) easier to understand and navigate.

The Able Meet NDIS Speed Networking Event will be held at the Midland Sports Complex on Wednesday, October 22 from 10am to 12pm.

The event brings together Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers, support coordinators, community networks and NDIS participants in a unique speed networking format, where visitors rotate every five minutes to meet every provider in the room.

GR8 Disability Housing Managing Director Perry Kleppe said the event was about connection and access.

“The NDIS can feel overwhelming, especially for families and participants who are new to the system,” he said.

“One conversation can change someone’s life. That might mean a family learning about a new service, a participant finding the right support or a provider making a connection that strengthens the local network.”

The Able Meet format has become increasingly popular across Perth and regional WA, helping communities build stronger networks of support and ensuring people living with disability have more choice and control.

The event is free to attend for visitors, fully accessible, and open to anyone wanting to understand more about local disability services and supports.
