BASSENDEAN Open Studios is back for its third annual celebration of art, creativity, and community!

On Saturday and Sunday, November 1-2 the Town of Bassendean will open its doors to a free, family-friendly weekend of art, inviting visitors to explore the vibrant studios of local artists.

Now a highlight on Perth’s cultural calendar, Bassendean Open Studios offers a unique behind-the-scenes experience, where visitors can meet the artists, explore their creative spaces, and witness the artistic process firsthand, an intimacy rarely available in traditional galleries.

From painting, sculpture, and ceramics to jewellery, printmaking, murals, and mixed media, there’s something for everyone.

This year, 16 local artists will participate, each bringing their own story and style to the event.

Dominique Coiffait will exhibit multi-block lino prints exploring texture, layering, and innovative techniques.

Emma Coleman’s nature-inspired acrylics, digital art, glass painting, and mixed-media jewellery will be on show.

Jane Dundas’s work as a visual artist will be displayed.

Tabitha Durrani will show fantasy-inspired pastel and acrylic illustrations.

Sarah Eve’s abstract realism capturing Australia’s landscapes with bold colour and texture will be at the open.

Will Ferrier’s motive, abstract work will explore identity and introspection.

Andrew Grero will display vibrant paintings and murals raising awareness for Parkinson’s disease.

Alicia Kavanagh will show large, expressive abstracts in acrylic and oil sticks.

Bethamy Linton is an award-winning silversmith, educator, and community workshop facilitator with work on show.

Shonie McKibbin’s ceramics and community art will celebrate local culture.

Debbie Mellows’ colourful abstract works will explore identity and emotion.

Maddie Mo Parsons’ portraits in oil, watercolour, embroidery, and ceramics will be displayed with Amanda Reid’s ceramics blending functionality and traditional Japanese artistry.

Justine Renzullo will fuse visual art, music, and special effects makeup into immersive experiences.

Romona Sandon’s mixed-media works connect nature and human form.

Ashleigh Whyte’s tactile painting, textiles, and sculpture explore emotional and sensory dimensions.

Bassendean Open Studios was created to break down barriers to art, promote local talent, and build community connections where visitors can enjoy a self-guided art tour around town, to different artists’ studios.

The event also supports mental health and well-being by fostering inclusive, joyful, and engaging creative experiences.

Attending an open studio is more than viewing art, it’s a chance to step inside the personal workspace of an artist, learn about their inspiration, and understand their creative journey.

Visitors will leave with a deeper connection to the artworks and the artists, while discovering local small businesses and celebrating the rich cultural life of Bassendean.

The free event is on Saturday and Sunday, November 1–2 from 10am - 4 pm at studios across Bassendean (Boorloo) including wheelchair-accessible studios.

Maps, studio listings, and map links will be available online prior to the event.
