THE annual Gidge Show is back for its 79th annual festivity of fun, food, and festivities.

On Saturday, October 25 the Gidgegannup Agricultural Society will host the Gidge Show at the Gidgegannup showgrounds at 2171 Toodyay Road, Gidgegannup.

The show will run from 8am to 7pm and will host a variety of free entertainment including cuddly farm animals, birds of prey, pop up magic, vintage tractors and machinery, public performers, and a live band at the bar from 5pm.

Festival goers will also be able to enjoy a variety of competitions including the WA farriers championship, the WA axemen competition, the dog high jump and handlers competition, and the sheaf toss competition.

Attendees will also have a chance to shop and support local vendors from across the Perth Hills region on the grounds.

The Australian rustic farm art awards will once again run at the event, with a variety of outdoor farm sculptures on display all day. Local artists have been asked to turn recycled materials into sculptures to support recycling practices. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony at 3pm.

Food and drink options will be plentiful with over 40 vendors around the showgrounds selling a variety of food options.

A spokesperson for the Gidgegannup Agricultural Society invites everyone from the area down and says the event this year will be bigger and more entertaining than any year previous.

“We have more things happening this year than ever,” she said.

“We’ve made the event more community minded by inviting local businesses. Our goal is to bring the community together for a fantastic family day out.

“We want people to come down because it’s like the country meets the town.”
