MIDLAND MLA Steve Catania has made good on an election funding commitment to provide $100,000 to support the Midland Information Debt and Legal Advocacy Service (MIDLAS) with new IT equipment for staff.
Funding from this commitment has enabled MIDLAS to replace outdated equipment with modern, high-performing devices, which will improve staff mobility, productivity, and service delivery for their clients.
“MIDLAS plays an essential role in supporting people across Midland and surrounding areas. This investment means that staff can divest their full focus to their incredible work without having to worry about outdated and inefficient IT equipment.
“As a lawyer by trade, I’m extremely proud to have been able to deliver on this commitment and support the incredible work MIDLAS does because I truly know just how important their work is.”
MIDLAS is a not-for-profit community legal centre that plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable individuals and families across Perth’s eastern suburbs.
Through free and confidential services, MIDLAS provides access to justice for people facing financial hardship, legal challenges, family and domestic violence, and housing insecurity.
The organisation helps clients navigate complex systems and connect with the support they need to regain stability and move forward with confidence.
MIDLAS CEO Angie Perkins said the funding has allowed the organisation to modernise their systems and better support the team, which ultimately means better outcomes for clients.
“We’re very thankful to Steve for delivering on his commitment to us and his strong ongoing support of MIDLAS.”
This investment ensures MIDLAS can continue providing critical support to the community, including legal advocacy, financial counselling, and tenancy assistance, with the tools needed to operate efficiently in both office and outreach settings.
