ELLENBROOK Secondary College has received $50,000 of sports funding for sea container storage, outdoor beach volleyball goal posts, grandstand seating, earthworks and turfing, and lock upgrades for gates.

The funding is being used in conjunction with Volleyball WA and is part of round three of the state government’s $10 million community use of school sporting facilities (CUSSF) program.

A college spokesperson said the joint grant with Volleyball WA would help open up the school’s facilities to more children in the community, while enhancing the facilities available.

“At this stage, the funds have not been fully spent. We have ordered the sea container and are currently waiting for its delivery,” they said.

“Regarding the volleyball area, the remaining funds will be used to resurface the ground.”

A Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport spokesperson said the program helped build stronger, more active communities by boosting participation in grassroots sport, while ensuring school facilities were used to their full potential.

Under the funding program’s third round, $1.4 million in grants have been awarded to 33 schools across 10 sporting codes, providing upgrades for local infrastructure, sport equipment, and school resources.

It is supported by $332m in the 2025-26 state budget for sports infrastructure projects across the state.

The next round of CUSSF funding will open in Term 1, 2026.
