THE Midland Junction Arts Centre (MJAC) is set to host a solo exhibition of deeply personal artwork by artist Rachelle Dusting in the heart of Midland.

The collection will open on Sunday, February 22 and host new bodies of work exploring the intersecting themes of identity, spirituality, and womanhood through a lens that the artist describes as the tension and tenderness of becoming.

The collection will give gallerygoers a look behind the curtains of the artists personal journey, weaving together internal symbolism with references of her unique Australian-British-Burmese heritage.

Dusting’s paintings invite viewers to navigate the emotional seasons of the last few years through imagery that is a blend of portraiture and storytelling through oil painting.

Her work blends classical techniques with contemporary themes, and captures the beauty of the human experience.

The exhibition will span the genres of portraiture, figurative work, and still life and will represent an ambitious new chapter in the artist’s career as she shifts terrain through the perspective of a woman approaching motherhood.

Much of her work draws inspiration from the domestic sphere, featuring light-filled interiors and curated objects that are deeply imbued with personal meaning and memory.

Complementing the gallery display, the artist will host a series of public events including artist talks, technical demonstrations, and workshops.

The exhibition will run from Sunday, February 22 through Sunday, April 19 at 276 Great Eastern Highway, Midland.

Visitors can view the works from Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 5pm, or during weekend hours from 11am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday.
