BULLSBROOK residents affected by PFAS contamination are beginning to be connected to scheme water, marking a significant step forward in a long-running issue in the area.
The contamination, linked to historic firefighting foam use at RAAF Base Pearce, has impacted local groundwater for years, with some residents relying on bottled water as a result.
More than 200 properties across the area are expected to be connected to the new scheme water network as part of the project.
Recent updates indicate some properties are now being connected, following years of planning, community consultation and construction.
As previously reported in Update on Bullsbrook scheme water the project has involved extensive infrastructure works, including more than 8km of pipeline installed in West Bullsbrook, along with further construction in South Bullsbrook.
Earlier works included pipeline installation along Railway Parade and Almeria Parade, as well as construction in higher-density residential areas.
The project forms part of a broader response to PFAS contamination identified in 2018, when investigations found elevated levels in some local water sources.
The connection to scheme water is expected to provide a long-term safe drinking water supply for affected residents.
However, the issue has been ongoing for several years, with residents previously raising concerns about delays and the length of time taken to deliver a permanent solution.
Further connections are expected to roll out across Bullsbrook in the coming months.
