
A COMPREHENSIVE investigation by detectives from the child abuse squad into allegations of sexual abuse by a male paediatrician who worked at St John of God Midland Hospital as a consultant has identified another nine alleged victims.
Chia Liang Saw, 41, who had previously been charged with persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16 and possessing child exploitation material, now faces a total of 31 additional charges, including seven counts of dealing with a child under 13 years old.
He was initially charged on Friday, May 29 after he allegedly sexually assaulted a patient at his place of work.
The accused specialises in behavioural issues affecting children and operates from locations in Midland and Nedlands.
As part of an extensive investigation that commenced in May, detectives have identified a further nine victims who were allegedly sexually assaulted by the accused.
On June 10, Saw faced 31 additional charges which included seven counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13 years old which related to nine alleged victims.
He was further charged with seven counts each of indecent dealings with a child under 13 years and producing child exploitation material, six counts of indecent dealings with a child over 13 under 16 years, five counts of indecently recording a child under 16 years, four counts of indecently recording a child under 13 years and one count each of sexual penetration of a child of or over 13 and under 16 years and intent to procure a person believed to be under 16 years for sexual activity.
He was not required to enter a plea and was remanded in custody and is scheduled to face court again on June 30.

MIDLAND detectives have charged a 38-year-old male massage therapist in the Bassendean area, following their investigation into alleged inappropriate behaviour against female clients.
It will be alleged during a remedial massage session; the accused indecently assaulted a female client.
The 38-year-old man from Yokine has been charged with two counts of unlawful and indecent assault.
He is due to appear before the Midland Magistrates Court on Friday, July 3.

MAJOR crash investigation officers have charged a 34-year-old woman with manslaughter following their investigation into a crash that occurred in Ellenbrook on Tuesday, May 12.
It will be alleged that about 9.15am, a red MG station sedan and a grey Ford Ranger, towing a horse float collided at the intersection of Main Street and The Promenade.
A 36-year-old male passenger of the MG, who was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital with critical injuries, later died from injuries he sustained in the crash.
A 34-year-old woman from Ellenbrook has been charged with manslaughter, dangerous driving causing bodily harm in circumstances of aggravation, no authority to drive – suspended (other than fines suspension), and driving with prescribed illicit drug in oral fluid or blood.
She appeared before the Midland Magistrates Court on June 16 and is next due to appear before the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on July 29.
OFFICERS from the major crash investigation section are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Kalamunda on Wednesday, June 10.
About 12.40pm, a male pedestrian was struck by a reversing vehicle in the car park of a shopping centre on Railway Road, causing him to fall.
The 79-year-old male pedestrian was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries.

AT about 4pm on Sunday, June 14 the Department of Fire and Emergency Services advised police of a structural fire at a residence on Alicia Gardens, Ballajura.
Initial reports were that smoke was emanating from the garage of the private residence.
During the scene examination, it was discovered that a person was dead within the premises.
Officers attached to the Midland Detectives Office and the Arson Squad were in attendance and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
