SHIRE of Mundaring is launching The Hills Talk, a new monthly podcast sharing the people, places and stories that shape life in the Perth Hills on Monday, August 10.

The podcast will celebrate the residents, volunteers, community leaders, creatives, environmental advocates and business owners making a positive impact across the region.

The Hills Talk will feature candid conversations with people whose passion, dedication and community spirit help define the unique character of the Perth Hills.

Listeners will hear personal journeys and local stories in guests’ own words.

Shire of Mundaring President Paige McNeil said the podcast was another way for the shire to foster connection and celebrate the people at the heart of the community.

“The Perth Hills is full of remarkable people whose contributions often happen quietly behind the scenes. The Hills Talk will bring those stories into the spotlight and give residents a chance to hear directly from the people helping to make our communities stronger, safer, and more connected,” Ms McNeil said.

Throughout the series, listeners will hear from a diverse range of guests, including conservation champions, community volunteers, local artists, young leaders, sporting and wellbeing advocates, historians, entrepreneurs and emergency services volunteers.

Ms McNeil said the podcast reflected the shire’s commitment to community connection, local identity and wellbeing.

“As a Shire, we invest in the places and opportunities that bring people together, but it is the people themselves who truly bring our community to life,” she said.

“Amongst the guests we have a volunteer firefighter who has served for 45 years, a wildlife warrior who has created thousands of habitats to protect native species, a humanitarian who has directly improved the lives of over 14,000 people in Africa, and a coach who has boosted the self-esteem of hundreds of Hills kids. These are stories worth sharing and celebrating.

“Behind every community project, volunteer group, local event, sporting club and small business are people who care deeply about where they live. This podcast celebrates those people and
creates another way for our community to connect.”

New episodes of The Hills Talk will be released monthly and will be available through the shire’s website and on Spotify.
