LOCAL charity worker Alexis Perovic, 14, has made history at the Galaxy International Pageant in Nassau, Bahamas where she was crowned Junior Miss Galaxy International 2027, the first Australian to win the global title.
Her international achievement follows her national success at the Galaxy Pageants Australia finals in Sydney, where she won the title of Junior Miss Galaxy Australia and the honour of representing Australia on the world stage.
Upon returning home, Alexis has continued her community work by partnering with the Swan Volunteer Resource Centre.
In one high efficiency volunteer session, she joined 30 volunteers to prepare more than 1600 cheese sandwiches for the Eat Up Australia program, helping provide free school lunches to students experiencing food insecurity.
Through her youth platform Kindness Counts, Ms Perovic has completed more than 180 hours of verified volunteer work and raised almost $10,000 for charities supporting families and children across Western Australia.
“Standing on that stage in the Bahamas was a dream come true, but the real reward is bringing that momentum back to Western Australia to work alongside incredible charity groups and volunteers,” she said.
“Prepping over 1600 sandwiches together proves that small actions multiply into massive community impact when we work together.”
Community members are encouraged to get involved through upcoming volunteer sessions and outreach opportunities via the Swan Volunteer Resource Centre portal.
Programs include Eat Up Australia, which delivers free school lunches to students in need, and Act Belong Commit, WA’s leading mental health initiative promoting active community participation.
Ms Perovic believes these initiatives will continue to strengthen community resilience across Midland and surrounding suburbs, helping ensure vulnerable children and families receive consistent support – a mission that sits at the heart of her Kindness Counts platform and the youth driven values she champions.
