NORTH Perth United have consolidated third spot, after a come-from-behind 3-1 win against Swan United at the Swan Italian Club on Francis Street.

The hosts found the opener early, with Tyler Buckley on target, but North Perth levelled just before half time.

Ben Green and Barry Boggan combined and found Yanich Jordan, who cut in from the left and curled a looping drive over the Swan keeper Nick Stone into the net.

The visitors hit the front just after the hour, the referee spotting handball in the box, and Boggan confidently converted the resulting penalty.

They sealed the points twenty minutes from time, a long through ball from Tim Fowler was flicked on by Jordan, and Tomas Carroll raced through and slid the ball under Stone.

North Perth coach Chris Batten said it was a game of two halves.

“I thought we played some good stuff in the first half, but we lost Cameron Hendry early due to quite a bad facial injury, and while he was receiving treatment, we conceded a very scrappy goal,” he said.

“We started knocking the ball about really well and our attacking three started causing a lot of problems and we managed to find an equaliser.

“After half time we came out and we just reiterated to the boys to continue doing that they are doing, knock the ball about and stretch the back four, and scored a penalty to take the lead.

“I was really pleased how we continued to knock it around and with striker John Harris leading the line we knew another goal was imminent, and it duly came.

“All in all, really proud of the workrate and to be able to secure third place.”
