AFTER years of planning and collaboration, construction is about to begin on the new Crosslinks Community Hub in Midland.
Since receiving a grant from Lotterywest earlier in the year, Crosslinks has appointed REAL (WA) as the builder.
It is expected that construction will take approximately nine months.
Crosslinks chief executive officer Dawn McAleenan said the milestone was an exciting step towards creating a welcoming space for people with disability and the wider community.
“The community hub is about much more than renovating a building,” Ms McAleenan said.
“We’re creating a place where people can connect, organisations can work together and our community can more easily access services, resources and opportunities.”
The hub will bring organisations, services and resources together, making it easier to collaborate, share resources and help people find the right support for them.
“It has taken a community to get this far, which feels very fitting for a project that is all about community,” Ms McAleenan said.
“Now comes the exciting part – watching it become a reality.”
Lotterywest is the project’s major supporter, alongside the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation and the City of Swan.
