MUNDARING Seniors Incorporated members John and Carole Parsons have capped off nearly two decades of local sporting dominance by receiving Life Membership at the club’s 55th Annual General Meeting.

The husband-and-wife duo joined the association in 2007 at the ages of 73 and 67, going on to secure multiple carpet bowl titles, Eight Badges, and interclub victories.

Mr Parsons won his first singles championship title in 2026, adding to his previous triple’s championship wins in 2012, 2022, and 2023.

Ms Parsons competitive records include four Four titles, five Triple crowns, four Pairs trophies, and two Singles Championships won in 2012 and 2025.

The pair earned their most recent Eight Badge in June 2026 alongside Eric Stein and Pauline Craigs in a match against Beckenham.

During his four-year term as Bowls Captain beginning in 2010, John expanded interclub competitions to include 17 regional clubs and introduced Mundaring Seniors to the annual Narrogin Carnival.

Mr and Ms Parsons also secured the club’s tournament format from a basic knockout system into the championship model used by members today.

In addition to their sporting roles, Mr Parsons served as vice president from 2010 to 2011 and president from 2023 to 2024, while Ms Parsons served on the management committee from 2011 to 2012.

For 19 years, Mr and Ms Parsons have been mentors, organisers, competitors, volunteers, and friends to the Mundaring Seniors community.
