A STRATTON family recently enjoyed a special visit from the Darlington Volunteer Bushfire Brigade after Bullwinkel MP Trish Cook helped facilitate the connection.

The visit gave local mum Kylie Warren, her daughter Quinn and son Tyler, an opportunity to meet the firefighters and explore the fire trucks.

Tyler Warren is a young NDIS participant with a keen interest in fire engines and emergency services, and the visit gave him a great opportunity to connect with his community.

“My team and I have been supporting Kylie and Tyler throughout their NDIS journey and have built a truly warm relationship with their family,” Ms Cook said.

“When I learned that Tyler has a love of fire trucks, I reached out to the great crew at the Darlington Volunteer Bushfire Brigade to see whether they might be willing to stop by and pay him and his family a visit.

“To their immense credit, the brigade didn’t hesitate. The captain and crew enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity to take time out of their busy schedules to visit Tyler and proudly show him their fire truck and gear.

“Their generosity, kindness and community spirit created a special experience for Tyler and his family, as well as other families on his street. It was great to be there to share in that moment.”

Ms Cook said she was grateful to the members of the Darlington Volunteer Bushfire Brigade for their willingness to make this happen.

“Their thoughtful gesture brought so much joy to Tyler and it is a wonderful example of the positive difference volunteers make in our community every day.”

Tyler’s mother, Kylie Warren said he had a great time with the team from the Darlington Volunteer Bushfire Brigade.

“He loves the trucks, especially the sirens and even got to spray some water around. Thanks so much to Trish Cook for helping organise this and the brigade for going the extra mile for us,” she said.

A Darlington Volunteer Bushfire Brigade spokesperson said the team had the absolute privilege of meeting Tyler and his family.

“Tyler has a neuronal brain disorder and can’t walk or talk, but he loves fire trucks and firefighters.

“After a request from Trish Cook, our local Federal Member, we got the team together and headed to Tyler’s house so he and his sister could get up close and personal with our fire trucks and firefighters.

“It was such a fun morning, and our volunteers were delighted we could bring some joy into Tyler’s day.”
