A WUTHERING Heights Day where you can be part of a global Kate Bush flash mob will be held at Stirling Square in Guildford on Sunday, July 30. To take part and dance along to her hit song Wuthering Heights all you need is a red dress, red lippy, frosty green shadow and a gold coin donation.

Presented by Ellenbrook based radio station 88.5FM, the event is in honour of their past station committee member Chris Cocozza who died nearly two years ago after having battled lung cancer.

Money raised from the event, which includes a raffle and cake stall, will go to Lung Foundation Australia, which funds life-changing research and delivers support services that give hope to people living with lung disease and lung cancer.

Station vice president Steph Radis said the event was an opportunity to raise much needed funds while having fun at a community event and celebrating with other fans of Kate Bush, and music in general.

“It will also help raise awareness of our local radio station, Radio VCA 88.5FM, which is run by volunteers and is a valuable asset to the community,’’ she said.

Ms Radis co-hosts Hits and Misses with Hazel Bradley on Tuesday and the pair are diehard Kate Bush fans.

“We both saw Wuthering Heights on Countdown back in 1978 and were never the same again,” Ms Bradley said.

“Kate’s music is brilliant and it’s great she has a new generation of fans who have discovered her through Stranger Things use of Running Up That Hill.”

If the weather is wet, the event will go ahead in St Matthew’s church hall in Stirling Square. There will be a stall selling homemade biscuits, marmalade and cupcakes and a prize for the best dressed Kate.

Wuthering Heights Day started in the UK in 2013 and has since taken off globally. July 30 is also Kate Bush’s birthday. This is the first year it’s been held in Guildford, coincidentally the former home of 88.5FM founder and freeman of the City of Swan Margaret Kidson (dec). The event starts at 1.30pm and the organisers have asked people to park at the Guildford train station.
