Containers for Change has announced a new depot in Ellenbrook to provide a dedicated container recycling location for the Ellenbrook community.
The new depot will accept aluminium, glass, plastic, steel, and liquid paperboard drink containers.
The 10¢ mark is the most vital cue in understanding whether a container is accepted by Containers for Change.
Some examples of accepted containers include: Most single-serve water and fizzy drink containers up to and including 3l, beer bottles and pre-mixed spirits, flavoured milk containers that are 150ml to 999ml, coconut water, pure fruit, or vegetable juice containers that are 150ml to 999ml.
Containers for Change WA chief executive officer Tim Cusack said they were delighted to work with U Can Recycle WA to launch the Ellenbrook Depot.
“We are very excited about the Containers for Change Depot in Ellenbrook. It creates an opportunity for people who live in this community to return their containers to Containers for Change and receive a 10¢ refund for every accepted container they return or choose to donate to a good cause.
“Five hundred and thirty million containers every year are heading straight to landfill, which could be reduced if the local community save their containers and return them to the Ellenbrook depot. By recycling containers through Containers for Change, residents can rest easy knowing that their containers are being recycled and are being saved from landfill,” Mr Cusack said.
U Can Recycle WA chief executive officer and owner of the Ellenbrook depot, Joel Alexander said he was thrilled to welcome the local community to the depot.
“We invite all local schools, sporting groups and charities to speak to us about how we can help facilitate their Containers for Change fundraising journey,” Mr Alexander said.
The Ellenbrook Depot is located at 201 Holdsworth Ave, Ellenbrook and is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sundays.
The centre also has a bag drop available 24 hours, seven days a week. Bagged 10¢ containers can be dropped off at the bag drop, and depot staff will collect it, count it, and process the refund contact free.
