Mundaring Hills Open Studios is an annual art event that celebrates the work of Perth Hills artists who will showcase their art between Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 29.

The event takes place over the nine days, and is open from 10am to 5pm weekends and 10am to 4pm on weekdays, giving visitors the chance to explore the work of 65 local artists at 37 locations.

The collaborative Open Studio Art Trail celebrates the initiative of 10 founding artists some 14 years ago.

Visiting the open studios who participate in the Mundaring Hills event is a unique experience and an opportunity to sample the lives of local artists.

It will also give everyone access to the artists’ work which come in an incredible range of mediums – from glass and ceramics to oil paint, watercolours, textiles, wood, recycled metals and much more.

The artists too range across the spectrum – from professionals with international acclaim to those who work part time or as a hobby – and all of them want to share their artistic environment with art lovers.

The event provides an opportunity to talk to artists, explore their techniques, share ideas, admire their creativity and acquire a unique piece of local artwork.

On the trail there are also many food venues, pubs, wineries and a distillery plus a range of picnic spots – all welcoming you to the hills environment and helping you to create a memorable visit.

Amaroo Retreat and Spa will showcase the artworks of four artists as part of the Open Studio Art Trail.

Amanda Gamble, Wild Wood Collections – Gamble is a self-taught woodworker and visual artist, creating unique, one of a kind, functional art pieces. Utilising an angle grinder and sander to shape and enhance the natural beauty of the timbers her work is both functional and decorative.

Stacey Gardoll, Stacey Gardoll Art – Gardoll’s art is all about capturing a moment between the viewer and the natural world. She creates an opportunity for viewers to become lost in the forms, and the intricacies of the botanical, as they can become swept up in the details, even if just for a moment.

Silvana Ferrario, Siju Glass – Ferrario uses a range of techniques that she has developed, often making use of the movement of the glass when it is hot, giving her work a painterly feel.

Johanna Zeelenberg, Fly My Darling Studio – Zeelenberg is a painter, drawer and visual artist who is inspired by her time spent living in the Pilbara. She is now a Chidlow local.
