WORK has commenced on the new sports pavilion at Ellenbrook Christian College, with Transport Minister Rita Saffioti visiting the project site on Monday to turn the first sod.

The new pavilion will include a kitchen, changerooms, toilets, undercover spectators’ area and storage rooms, and incorporate the existing basketball courts.

The state government has worked closely with Ellenbrook Christian College since the Morley-Ellenbrook line’s planning phase to ensure minimal disruption to students.

Works are progressing on the Morley-Ellenbrook line, with the project expected to be completed in late-2024.

The 21-kilometre line and five new stations will service Perth’s north-eastern suburbs to support existing communities by improving transport connections and creating new communities through integrated station precincts.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said the Morley-Ellenbrook line continues to take shape out here in Ellenbrook, and it’s so exciting for the community.

“We’re really pleased to have provided this funding to Ellenbrook Christian College for this new pavilion, which means students will be able to enjoy sport and activities all year round.

“From the outset, we’ve had a really positive working relationship with the college, and we would once again like to thank the school and the extended community for their ongoing support for this once-in-a-generation Metronet project.”

The state government provided $2.8 million in funding towards the new pavilion on the Morley-Ellenbrook line project.
