A SERIES of damaged water mains and low-pressure incidents throughout the hills and foothills, which may have left tap water cloudy or discoloured, is no cause for concern says a Water Corporation spokesperson.

“Following repairs or maintenance, water is sometimes flushed through pipes,” the spokesperson said.

“This may stir up harmless sediment or allow air to enter the system which can temporarily give water a cloudy or discoloured appearance.

“While unsightly, water remains safe to use as normal.

If you experience discoloured water, run a garden tap closest to your water meter for two minutes, or until the water runs clear.”

The Water Corporation spokesperson said damaged water mains were repaired in High Wycombe on January 11 and 12 and in Koongamia on January 15.

Water Corporation crews also responded to a report of low pressure in Lesmurdie on January 8, with repairs requiring a brief water supply isolation for around 20 customers.

They said crews were on site in 45 minutes for the High Wycombe and Koongamia incidents and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

“We would like to thank the residents for their patience and understanding while crews completed repairs,” they said.
