MARCH 23 will see Hyper return to Midland to showcase the best rising talent in the Australian music scene.

This year’s festival features NSW rockers Pacific Avenue, Perth’s own Sly Withers, First Nations artist Sycco, Canberra punk-rock quartet Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, and Ūla’s ‘bubble-gum grunge’ aesthetic from Sydney.

Other home-grown acts include South Summit, Joan and the Giants, Coco Elise, Elianie, Teenage Vertigo, Lachy John and the Red Bellies, Blue Lighthouse, and Rosalie Chilvers.

Hyper is organised by a team of young volunteers who received mentorship throughout the year to learn how to organise a music festival in a unique way – by doing it.

The resulting event is Western Australia’s longest running all-ages, drug and alcohol-free music festival.

Other activities on the day include food vans, an artist signing tent, free 18-hole adventure golf as well as games and merchandise.

The festival will take place at the corner of Cale Street and The Crescent, at the LoCale event space and Weeip Park in the new junction precinct.

City of Swan Mayor Tanya Richardson said the city was proud to support the hard working volunteers who helped organise the festival.

“These are the people who know the Australian music scene best and the success of this event is a testament to their hard work,” she said.
