THE state government will provide a further $88.4 million for construction of three new public primary schools in growing areas expected to open for the 2027 school year.
A $26.5m double-storey block will be built at Caversham Primary School to replace long-term transportable classrooms, while a total of $15m will be invested to fast-track planning for a new secondary school in the rapidly growing suburb of Brabham.
“The new Brabham secondary school, (earmarked to be named Brabham Senior High School), marks a significant milestone for the fast-growing north-eastern suburbs of Perth,” West Swan MLA Rita Saffioti said.
“The site of the proposed secondary school is located minutes from Whiteman Park Station, ensuring the school is accessible and well-integrated into the community.
“Detailed planning, land acquisition, and infrastructure works will now take place for the new school,” she said.
She said the investment in Brabham Senior High School and Caversham Primary School would add to the growing number of modern education facilities serving families in the area:
• The new Brabham Primary School that opened in 2021 and the Brabham Primary School offsite early childhood education centre (Brabham Bidi) that opened in 2024
• The new Dayton Primary School that opened in 2023
• The new Henley Brook Primary School that opened in 2024
• A new Brabham East Primary School (planning name) to be opened in 2025
“I want to make sure students and their families have access to high-quality education right here in our community,” Ms Saffioti said.
“A state-of-the-art high school is very much needed by the Brabham, Dayton, and Henley Brook communities, and that’s why I am pleased our government has allocated $15m for this project.
“Parents and teachers at Caversham Primary School have spoken to me about the need for a new classroom and that’s exactly what we’ll deliver,” she said.
An additional $41.8m in funding will go towards maintenance upgrades to improve existing public schools.
The government will also spend $79.6m on new transportable buildings to enable flexible and timely expansion of capacity in public schools.
Premier Roger Cook said his government was committed to providing quality infrastructure for WA schools,and giving students the best possible learning experiences.
