CHIDLOW have a bye in the Hills Football Association this weekend after a 13.9 (87) to 13.4 (82) win over Mundaring on May 12.

Despite the win Chidlow are fifth on the ladder while Mundaring with a higher percentage is in fourth spot.

At Mundaring oval last weekend the Cougars had three goals on the board in quick succession before the Roos could enter their forward line.

Matt Mallaby was proving a handful at full forward with four of their six first quarter goals.

Luke Elliott was covering most of the ground racking up the possessions.

Cody Langridge and Alex Radonic were busy around the half forward line.

The Roos swung Daniel Thomas into the ruck which paid dividends as they started to clear the ball forward from the stoppages.

Robert Di Salvio, Clayton Thomas and Dylan O’Loghlen started to have an impact.

Austin Thomas converted from a strong lead and mark to get Mundaring up and about in the second as they chipped away at Chidlow’s lead.

By the main break they had reduced the deficit to 11 points.

Sateki A’Vard was lively around the midfield Tyler Levett became a presence across his half forward line as the Roos kept pushing forward.

A fortuitous soccer goal from Reece Carr kept the Cougars five points in front at the last change.

The stage was set for a cracking last quarter in what was shaping up to be the closest finish for the season so far.

Two goals each had the Cougars home by five points at the final siren.

For Mundaring Austin Thomas was a standout with seven goals, Daniel Thomas along with Sateki A’Vard were solid contributors.

For Chidlow Matt Mallaby finished with five for the game, along with several possessions around the ground when having a run on the ball.

Jake Forman, Cody Langridge and Luke Elliott were also influential.

Mundaring will take on HFA ladder leaders Pickering Brook this weekend.
