MOUNT Helena Junior Football Club will be holding a free open day at their home ground on Elsie Austin Oval to celebrate their 60th birthday from 9am to 1.30pm on Saturday, June 15.
As part of the milestone event the club has been collecting memorabilia to be displayed in the pavilion to commemorate its history and to showcase some of the achievements life members and volunteers have made to make the club’s success possible.
The event is free to the public and the club encourages everyone to get down in their best red and blue Mounties Lion’s colours and cheer on the junior Lion Cubs while enjoying all the excitement that the event has to offer for young and young at heart.
Half of the ground will be set up as an entertainment zone complete with bouncy castle, lawn games, face painting and a special football skills zone, along with a visit by West Coast Eagles mascot Rosie along with the club’s very own Billy Roar.
There will also be a designated space that will host food trucks with ice cream, coffee and sweet treats on offer, while the canteen will be serving bacon and egg rolls, ham and cheese toasties, sausage sizzle, hot beef rolls, lolly bags, crisps, juice, fizzy drinks and more.
The 3/4 junior team will play at 9am, followed by Auskick/Starkickers at 10.30am and then to round things up the 5/6 team will play at 11am.
“Our success can be truly attributed to the power of a local community, and we would also like to thank the Shire of Mundaring for their help in funding this event through their milestone event grant,” a spokesperson said.
