DANCE student Liam Fitzpatrick, 12, is looking forward to taking part in a Wuthering Heights flash mob in Guildford this month.
The keen performer, who is a member of the West Australian Young Voices choir, wowed the crowd when he led participants through the moves of Kate Bush’s 1978 hit song at the inaugural Guildford event last year.
I love music and dancing and it is great to be part of a flash mob and see everyone dressed up,” Liam said.
While not many will be able to manage the bend backs and cartwheels Liam is able to pull off, people are encouraged to modify the moves to suit themselves and just have fun.
Wuthering Heights Day is a global event where people dress up as Kate Bush in a red dress and frosty green eye shadow and recreate the song’s video.
The event will be held at Stirling Square in Guildford on Sunday, July 28 at 1.30pm.
Free parking is available at Guildford train station.
People are asked to bring a gold coin donation and support a marmalade, cake and sandwich stall.
Money raised from the event will go to Lung Foundation Australia.
Organiser Steph Radis said last year’s event attracted nearly 80 Cathys of all ages.
“It is a chance to have fun for a good cause,” she said.
“There are plenty of videos online that teach the moves to the song.”
The Guildford Association will be hosting the event in memory of Steph’s husband and former committee member, Chris Cocozza, who died nearly three years ago after battling lung cancer.
“Chris loved music and volunteered his time for community groups.
“I know he would love that this event is in his honour and raising money for lung cancer research,” she said.
