THE annual Moonlight for a Cure fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation will be held on Saturday, August 17 from 7pm to 11.30pm at the Lesmurdie Club in Walliston featuring The Moonlighters.

Earlier in the evening Scott Vance will be performing his favourites from Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Dean Martin and Paul Simon, with party band The Moonlighters finishing the night out for a fun dance packed evening.

Free food will be provided throughout the night, along with a well-stocked bar, raffles and silent auctions with some fantastic prizes to be won and all proceeds going to the foundation.

While The Moonlighters band is a regular performer in the Perth Hills this fundraiser has a special place in the hearts of two of the band’s members Margie and Colin Jorgensen.

Three years ago, their lives took an unexpected turn when Margie was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.

Mr Jorgensen said the journey since then has been nothing short of a rollercoaster, marked by extensive chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and surgery.

He said the physical and emotional toll on Margie, and their entire family, had been immense.

“The effects of the treatments have been tough.

“There have been days of pain, exhaustion, and uncertainty.

“We’ve faced moments of fear and despair, but also moments of resilience and hope,” he said.

“Through it all, Margie has shown incredible strength and courage.

“Her unwavering spirit has been a beacon of light in our darkest times.”

Despite the challenges, Margie found ways to give back, becoming a pillar of support for others battling this relentless disease, and offering mentorship and guidance to those navigating their own cancer journeys.

“Her selflessness and dedication to helping others have been truly inspiring,” Mr Jorgensen said.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Margie’s journey has been her ability to connect with and support other patients, and she has shared her experiences, offered a listening ear, and provided practical advice to those in similar situations.

“Margie’s commitment to giving back has not only helped others but also provided her with a sense of purpose and fulfillment amidst the struggle,” he said.

While their journey is far from over, each day is a testament to Margie’s bravery and the power of love and support.

“We continue to fight, together, drawing strength from each other and from the incredible community around us.

The kindness, encouragement, and solidarity we’ve experienced have been a lifeline, reminding us that we are not alone in this fight,” he said.

Mr Jorgensen said the fundraising event was their way of expressing gratitude for the amazing support they had received from the foundation and a way to helping others in their own battle against breast cancer.
