CALE Street’s level crossing will close for a week from October 1 to facilitate critical works for the new Midland station project.

The level crossing is scheduled to close at 6am on October 1 and reopen at 6pm on October 8.

The Midland station project team has advised to plan ahead and follow the detour signs that will be in place.

During this time, the pedestrian crossing will also be closed, and an alternative crossing will be available at Morrison Road.

Bus route 301 will also include new stops along Yelverton Drive to provide north-south access.

A PTA spokesperson said the closure was to allow essential track works to be carried out on the freight line.

“This will include replacing ageing track infrastructure such as sleepers, rail and turnouts, and repositioning signalling,” they said.

“These upgrades are crucial for the continued safety and efficiency of freight assets.”
