IN the face of rising chronic health conditions and lifestyle-related risks, a new initiative has been launched offering free health coaching services to adults across Western Australia.
Operated by Better Health Company and funded by the WA Department of Health, the initiative aims to improve well-being and address the pressing preventable health challenges that many Australians face today.
Recent statistics by the department reveal more than one in three adults are categorised as overweight, with more than one in three adults categorised as obese.
More than 21 per cent of adults have been diagnosed with a mental health condition in the past year, while conditions such as high cholesterol (23.6 per cent), high blood pressure (22.7 per cent) and heart disease (8.2 per cent) are prevalent.
Additionally, significant lifestyle risk factors such as high rates of smoking (10.9 per cent), excessive alcohol consumption (37.8 per cent), and poor dietary habits are contributing to deteriorating health outcomes.
Better Health Company’s health coaching service aims to tackle these challenges head-on by providing personalised remote support and practical guidance.
The free coaching service offers Western Australian adults the tools they need to make positive changes, manage chronic conditions, and improve their overall quality of life, including 10 phone appointments with a qualified health professional.
“During my few months on the better health coaching, it was an amazing experience. As I had someone that cared and was able to understand and help me with things I’ve found difficult in the past. My health and lifestyle has had a great positive change, I feel more confident with the ability to take care of my health and wellbeing,” a participant said.
“Western Australians are invited to take advantage of this valuable resource and join the movement towards better health. Whether you’re looking to manage a chronic condition, improve your diet, or reduce stress, the coaching service is here to support you every step of the way,” a spokesperson said.
