HORSEPOWER in the Hills returns to Walliston Primary School for a day full of cars and family fun on Sunday November 3 from 10am.

The biennial event has been running for more than a decade, attracting up to 400 cars including muscle, classic, new and exotic cars, all on show for the whole day.

All proceeds from the event go to Walliston Primary School for new supplies and equipment.

The Walliston P & C and Wally Boys Racing run the event, and P & C president Rachel Boyes said the show has only been getting bigger each year.

“Each car show we have held has attracted more and more cars to show and more car enthusiasts and families to enjoy the day. Last show saw us enjoy our biggest and best and we have adjusted to ensure we can welcome even more people this time,” she said.

“The sense of comradery and connection to our community is remarkable. The Wally Boys racing crew put their lives on hold for a good six months in the lead-up to the show to work with us to make the car show a success.

“Not all of them have children at the school, we are so lucky to have all their support and commitment.

“The guys extend and embrace us in their club, where it’s not just about building cars, but it’s about doing the things you love with your mates and having each other’s backs. This connection flows into our community and everyone just has a fun day out.”

There are great prizes and trophies on offer for car winners in nine different categories including people’s choice, top Ford, top Holden, and principal’s choice.

There will also be free activities including face painting, silent disco, a woodworking stall, laser tag for the kids and a dunk tank with teachers from Walliston Primary School lining up to get dunked.

Food will be cheaply available on the day including snow cones, fairy floss, and a barbeque run by the P & C.
Ms Boyes said the school appreciates every dollar raised.

“Being a 54 year old school, there is always infrastructure and equipment the P & C raise funds for. On the list at the moment is resurfacing the netball court, fixing up the early childhood playground and providing much needed air conditioning, not to mention an upgrade to the oval as well. Which one of these projects gets assigned first is up for debate.”

Event entry is by gold coin donation from 10am, with car entry open from 8am for a $10 entry fee.
