MIDLAND detectives have charged a 31-year-old Ellenbrook man with several offences in relation to an evade police incident that occurred on Sunday, January 26.
About 7.40pm, police located a silver Holden Commodore wagon on West Swan Road in West Swan.
It will be alleged the vehicle was stolen from an address in Fremantle.
Police activated their emergency lights and sirens; however, it will be alleged the vehicle failed to stop.
Police allege the accused drove at excessive speeds, travelled through red traffic control lights and on the incorrect side of the road throughout the greater Midland, Joondalup and Mirrabooka areas.
The man continued travelling into the Perth city area before abandoning the vehicle near an apartment complex on Wellington Street.
The accused then fled on foot.
On Monday, January 27, police apprehended the accused at a service station on Joondalup Drive in Carramar.
During a search of the man, police located a satchel bag which contained a sawn-off shotgun, a knife, an amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
A 31-year-old man from Ellenbrook has been charged with driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, stealing motor vehicle and reckless driving, no authority to drive, obstructing police officers, possess firearm with circumstances of aggravation, possessed a controlled weapon, having ready access to both weapons and illegal drugs, possessed drug paraphernalia, unlicenced person purchase firearm/ammunition.
He appeared before the Midland Magistrates Court on Tuesday, January 28 where he was remanded in custody until his next appearance on February 25.
