THE state government and WA Police last week officially opened the new $27.5 million state-of-the-art Forrestfield Police Station to boost community safety in Perth’s rapidly growing south-east community.

The new building capacity nearly triples the current number of sworn officers stationed at Forrestfield.

Designed to best service the community, Forrestfield station will operate 24/7 and be accessible to the public between 8am and 7pm every weekday.

The new police station will provide a contemporary environment for the delivery of police services to the Midland District, including enhanced equipment for processing offenders and improved staff security.

Forrestfield Police Station services 16 suburbs and is one of six stations in the Midland District which covers a total of 81 suburbs across Perth’s east.

This building has been designed with a sustainable approach including solar capabilities, battery storage, vehicle charging facilities and native waterwise landscaping.

Now the facility is in operation, the old Forrestfield Police Station is set to be demolished and converted into a secure parking site.

Forrestfield MLA Stephen Price said the community in Forrestfield is rapidly growing and the new 24/7 police station would better support and boost safety in Perth’s south-east.

“The Western Australian Police Force put their lives on the line in day-to-day duties and this facility will only strengthen their safety while serving our community. I want to thank everyone involved in delivering this project,” he said.

Police Minister Reece Whitby said the multi-million-dollar complex will better serve our community, improving public safety and emergency response.

“Modern policing is continuing to evolve and this new facility better supports the requirements of officers while providing much needed space for up to 100 police officers.

“The Cook Government recognised the rapid growth of the City of Kalamunda and we’re committed to ensuring we meet the community’s needs.

“I look forward to seeing Police carry out their day-to-day duties in a more efficient and effective way at Forrestfield Station which will boost community safety.”
