SHIRE of Mundaring has reaffirmed its long-standing support for the Mundaring and Hills Historical Society (MHHS), signing a renewed four-year agreement that will ensure the continued delivery of heritage services and programs to the local community.

The agreement provides annual funding for MHHS to support its ongoing efforts in collections management, exhibitions, public programs, education and heritage advocacy.

Shire President Paige McNeil said the agreement represents more than just financial support – it reflects a meaningful and collaborative partnership to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the region.

“This renewed agreement ensures residents can continue to enjoy and engage with the unique history
of our region through high quality exhibitions, accessible collections and community programs,” she said.

“I’d like to thank the committee for their valued contributions and continued dedication to our shared goals. Together, we’re building on a trusted partnership that’s not only accountable and strategic, but also rich in community benefit and shared purpose.”

She said the agreement outlines clear service expectations, including objectives for accessibility, sustainability, community engagement and heritage protection, along with annual performance reviews and measurable outcomes.

Mundaring and Hills Historical Society president Jenny Johnson, welcomed the renewed agreement and acknowledged the shire’s ongoing support.

“This partnership enables us to continue preserving local stories and places while also delivering programs that celebrate our community’s rich heritage,” she said.

“The shire’s support is instrumental in helping us grow our volunteer base, enhance exhibitions and respond to new heritage challenges in a meaningful and accountable way.”

As part of the agreement, MHHS will also continue to collaborate with the shire’s cultural advisory group and contribute to heritage initiatives such as interpretive signage and heritage listings.
