SWAN Districts can take a giant step closer to at least hosting a home WAFLW final this season when they host Peel Thunder in round 16 on Saturday afternoon.

There are just three rounds left in the women’s season with Swan Districts currently occupying third position on the back of knocking off South Fremantle in a thriller last Sunday.

Swans are now sitting a game clear in that third position as a result and will stay there if they keep winning, and a top two finish isn’t even out of the question if they are able to do that as well.

Swan Districts takes on Peel this Saturday at Bassendean oval with the black-and-whites on the hunt for a third straight victory.

The win last Sunday against the Bulldogs was a signal that Swans are genuine contenders this season considering South Fremantle were fresh off handing both Subiaco and Claremont their first defeats of the 2025 season.

Now Swans take on a Peel team out of finals contention with a 3-11 record and coming off a 23-point loss last week at Lathlain to Perth.

The two teams last met back in round four in Mandurah which saw them play out a tight affair with Swan Districts ending up scoring the 5.7 (37) to 4.6 (30) victory.

Swan Districts is coming off that win against South Fremantle and will be trying to back it up with Naomi Baker, Madison Fisher, Demi Liddle, Karri Parnham and Sienna Pollard all added to the squad.

Going out from the team that will take on Peel at home on Saturday is Meg Carron.

Peel lost to Perth last week and from that team, Jade Hall, Tahlia Head and Caitlin Shales come into the side.

Going out for the Thunder are Charlie Fletcher, Cassie Davidson and Heidi Ireland.
