
SWAN Districts finished the WAFLW home and away season as the hottest team in the competition by beating East Fremantle by four points at Bassendean oval in round 18.
The black-and-whites went into the game guaranteed of finishing in third position no matter the result but on a four-match winning run and wanting to keep their momentum going heading into the finals.
Swan Districts ended up kicking the only two goals of the first half which was enough to set up the eventual 2.3 (15) to 1.5 (11) victory in tough conditions last Sunday afternoon.
The result leaves Swans in third position with a 12-4 record to set up a first semi-final also at home against East Fremantle this Sunday afternoon.
The only two scores of the first quarter were behinds for the Sharks but Swan Districts were going to the scoring end in the second term and were able to make the most of it.
The Swans kicked the first goal of the game thanks to Kayley King at the seven-minute mark before Emily McGuire added another just before half-time with the black-and-whites leading by 12 points going into the main break.
East Fremantle had the breeze behind them in the third quarter and managed their only goal of the game thanks to Siena Jezierski-Brown and in the process cut the Swan Districts lead to four points by three quarter-time.
Then in the last term, it was a behind apiece with Swans holding on for the four-point victory to close the home and away season.
