THE October Hour of Power will feature two guest speakers sharing anecdotes of growth and their visions in healthcare delivery and in business respectively.
Aishwarya’s Foundation founder Aswath Chavittupara will be one of the speakers and has been campaigning for better healthcare since the death of his seven-year-old daughter Aishwarya at Perth Children’s Hospital in 2021.
Mr Chavittupara and his wife Prasitha Sasidharan established the foundation in memory of their daughter and said they were on a mission to ensure no other family faces the same heartbreak.
“In memory of our beloved daughter Aishwarya, our mission is to establish a 24/7 bulk-billed medical centre, providing personalised primary healthcare to individuals of all ages,” they said.
“We are committed to reducing the strain on emergency departments and raising awareness of Aishwarya’s care program.”
Mr Chavittupara has been outspoken about problems in the state’s health system, particularly staffing levels, and has called for reforms to triage and patient care after the coroner’s inquest into his daughter’s death identified missed opportunities.
He walked more than 300 kilometres from Morley to Margaret River to raise funds and awareness for the foundation.
Mr Chavittupara has also thrown his hat into the political ring, contesting local government elections in Bayswater and winning Liberal preselection for the state seat of Morley.
“Through our relentless efforts, we strive to bring about positive change in our health system and community,” the foundation states.
“Our mission is to ensure no parent endures a similar loss.”
His Hour of Power talk will give the Swan community a chance to hear firsthand about his advocacy journey and the foundation’s ambitions.
The second guest speaker is founder of landscaping and property maintenance service Cullen Complete Services founder James Cullen.
Mr Cullen was named young professional of the year at the Swan Chamber of Commerce and City of Swan business awards 2025.
He launched his business in November 2023 and has built it into an operation employing eight staff in less than two years.
His company specialises in landscaping, irrigation, and property services, and has quickly earned a reputation in the Swan area for quality work.
His personal journey, from a high school student with challenges to overcome to a respected business owner, has been called a testament to resilience and determination by the chamber.
The judges praised him for building a sustainable business while also supporting the local economy through employment and community involvement.
“James’s commitment to quality and community has earned his business a strong reputation locally and beyond,” the awards said.
His presentation will focus on the practical lessons of starting and growing a business, the importance of leadership, and the role of persistence in building credibility with clients.
Swan Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer Tom Smilovitis said the combination of speakers at next week’s event would provide a unique blend of community advocacy and entrepreneurial experience.
“We’re proud to be showcasing two individuals whose stories reflect the power of resilience and leadership,” he said.
“Their insights will resonate with anyone interested in making a difference, whether in business or in the wider community.”
