FOGO or not to go?
Dear Echo News,
You have to question the logic behind the garbage disposal system our council has inflicted on us.
Green bins picked up every week, most are half empty or not put on the verge at all.
The yellow and red bins collected on alternate fortnights.
And to further trouble the residents they have cut the red garbage bin in half. A family with two kids will easily fill one of these in a week.
There are only two of us, but we fill the bin well before pick up time.
So imagine I’ve just made garlic prawns and the heads will sit in the bin for the next two weeks in the middle of summer, I know it’s happened, you won’t believe the stink.
This is not world’s best practice, where do they get their ideas from?
Surely this is a trial and they haven’t told us? Nobody could be that ill-informed, but then again we are dealing with local government.
This deserves a mention, driving along Sanderson Road towards the shopping centre on “bin day” red bins were out like soldiers along the street.
All had their lids propped open by garbage, they were all over filled. This was like 12 to 14 bins, about six to eight had rubbish strewn around them, proof that they are indeed not fit for purpose.
Speaking of local government I believe they have increased our rates by 5 per cent. Do we get 5 per cent of improved services? I doubt it.
Most of us are on a fixed income, do they consider that, nah. I have a theory of why local governments are less than efficient.
They go everywhere “mob handed”.
Council officers recently came to read the water sub meters at their rented premises in Lesmurdie.
Not one but two females rigged out in safety vests, dangerous business reading water meters.
They came to see us about tree issues that we had, three of them to do this.
All of my interactions with local government reps always seems to involve multiple people.
They must have a confidence problem which is OK, but we should not have to pay for it.
R Jones

In response to PSHB change a turning point says Mundaring president:
T Noonan:
Not much was done to begin with especially for all the millions that was spent. Now think of the millions, maybe billions, lost in the future from this. They failed before they begun. Their response was too late (over a year after first detected), they hardly made progress and embarrassingly a citizen scientist beat DPIRD to a cure/treatment and to now give up before (properly trying) is the final let down.
I think City of Stirling made a good decision and stood against DPIRD’s order to chop down the trees as the only treatment and instead put the blame back on federal government to figure out their problem.
The whole of DPIRD should be disbanded for allowing such a failure and then bloody giving up – do your jobs.
We can say goodbye to our karri forests, plus nearly every other native tree, fruit trees and ornamentals. The list of hosts is massive. I look to the American chestnut blight tragedy and pray we get off lighter.
L Deering:
My response to the government’s response is we are totally disappointed and part of us expected so due to state government’s lack of direct action, funding research or any attempt to address this issue. Labor has forgotten the environment. This government is only interested in mining, NRL, motor sports and if you have money attached.
S Wheldon:
Can only imagine how hard government agencies would go on me if I did this. Yet when we have this absolutely diabolical blunder by multiple government agencies, she’s all crickets. “Oh well guys, we tried. That’s how it is.”

Not racially motivated. Yeah, right. RIP, young man. Condolences to your mother and family – none of whom ever dreamed they’d have to live without you.
