Midland capital of the west
Dear Echo News,
Perth City council has voted against the proposed Burswood precinct Motorsport track and the immediate surrounding suburbs such as Victoria Park are in utter apoplexy at the thought of a racetrack or tourism.
So, here’s an idea, let’s make Midland the capital of WA.
If we’re honest, Perth is as dead as a Dodo, parking is ludicrously expensive, and the vibrancy is gone. It’s also obvious the immediate suburbs surrounding the CBD don’t want anything that builds tourism or induces visitors to come.
Midland is big, multicultural and serves our country cousins in a way Perth City never did or could. It already has an historic GP racetrack site, plus a great motor museum close by and the Midland CBD is as close to the airport as the Perth CBD, not to forget Midland has the beautiful Swan River meandering through and wineries galore, plus the lovely charm of the historic Guildford precinct.
Let’s get on with it and let the grand burghers of Perth City and its surrounding suburbs retire to the tranquility and NIMBY life they are crying for.
Midland the future capital of the West.

--------------------------------------------------------------------Concerns with station parking
Dear Echo News,
For the first time today, I parked in the new Midland railway car park.
And yes, being a Sunday there was plenty of parking.
I unloaded my mobility walker (I have an Acrod permit) and walked all the way to the entrance with no protection to the weather!
Just as well I did not try that on the Saturday as I would have got drenched!
But when I got there I found out there were no trains running that day, so back to the car park and loaded my walker into the car again.
I wonder what so called clever person has designed all this.
Everyone can see how wrong all this is.
What will be done about this?
Surely they can do better than this!
I for one won’t be parking there again, so where do I go then?

--------------------------------------------------------------------Solution to Coles checkouts
Dear Echo News,
Regarding Le Serve’s letter (Echo News, Oct 3) on Coles’ unwillingness to serve the public by allowing queues without providing adequate checkout staff.
That can be easily remedied.
Simply fill your trolley with stuff and then leave it at the checkout when they refuse to add staff to serve you.
Don’t use their self-serve system.
That’s both taking jobs off people and taking the P eye-double-ess as well, unless they offer a discount to those who choose to work for them for free!
If they get enough trolley-loads left at the checkouts they will either fix the problem or not…but then it’s their problem!
